This guide explains how to copy and paste using shortcuts, trackpad gestures, or a mouse. We’ll also show you how to use Universal Clipboard, Apple’s tool for copying between devices.

  1. Select the text or image.
  2. Press Command + C.
  3. Go to where you want to paste it, and press Command + V.

You can also use a mouse or trackpad:

Universal Clipboard lets you copy something on one Apple device (like your iPhone) and paste it on another, like your MacBook.

To use it:

  1. Make sure both devices have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Handoff turned on.
  2. Sign in with the same Apple ID on both devices.
  3. Copy on one device.
  4. Paste on the other as you normally would.

Note: you won’t see a separate app or popup. Universal Clipboard runs in the background.
