When you’re lying in bed at night and want to watch a bit of TV or stream a film, you need a good television in your bedroom. This TV should be large enough for clear viewing, but there must still be enough space left to move around the bedroom comfortably. So how do you choose a suitable TV for your bedroom? You’ll find out on this page.

Where exactly will your TV go in the bedroom?

The first question to answer when buying a television for the bedroom: where will the TV go exactly? If your television sits on a sideboard or cabinet, make sure it can stand on it in a stable way. Choose a television that fits very comfortably on the unit. Another option is to mount your TV on the wall. We’ll come back to this extensively later on this page. Wherever your television goes, make sure the screen is positioned as close to eye level as possible. This is the most comfortable to watch and helps prevent neck strain.

How big is your bedroom and what TV size fits?

For every television you buy, you need to consider the viewing distance. This is no different for a bedroom TV. A TV that’s too large can be overwhelming in a small bedroom, while a TV that’s too small won’t be comfortable to watch either. It’s important to find the right balance between the size of the TV and the size of your bedroom. Determine the distance between the screen and your bed and base the size of your television on that. On our advice page you’ll find exactly which TV size matches which viewing distance.

The bedroom is often not the largest room in the house. You save a lot of space by mounting your television on the bedroom wall, and it often looks great too. Mount your television using a swivel or tilting TV bracket so you can always set it at the right height and avoid neck strain. The most important tip here is to position the centre of the TV screen as close to eye level as possible. Everyone watches TV slightly differently, whether lying down or sitting up. That’s another reason why it’s useful to mount the TV with a swivel or tilting bracket.
