What’s new with the iPhone 17?

The new Apple iPhone is available in 5 models:

Apple equips the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e with the brand-new A19 chip, while the Air, Pro, and Pro Max feature a more powerful A19 Pro chip. This makes the latest iPhones significantly faster and more powerful than previous models. The A19 Pro chip allows you to handle demanding tasks, such as gaming and video editing, with ease and speed.

The iPhone Air sets a record as the thinnest iPhone ever, showcasing Apple’s newest design. It’s also the first iPhone to rely solely on eSIM, making traditional physical SIM cards a thing of the past. Fortunately, switching from a physical SIM to an eSIM is quick and straightforward.

The iPhone 17 not only delivers highest speed but also superior durability. Its new Ceramic Shield 2 display provides 3 times more scratch resistance. The screen reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and supports ProMotion up to 120 Hz, giving sharper images with deeper contrast while remaining clearly visible even in bright environments. The iPhone 17, Air, Pro, and Pro Max benefit from that 3,000-nit peak brightness, making it the best iPhone display yet. The iPhone 17e uses 1,200-nit peak brightness.

What is the design of the iPhone 17?

The iPhone 17 features an aluminium frame with a coloured glass back. The Apple iPhone 17e uses a durable aluminium frame and an improved Ceramic Shield 2 display on the front, making it up to 3 times more scratch-resistant than iPhone 16e. The iPhone Air goes further: with a titanium design, Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, and Ceramic Shield on the back, it is the strongest and most durable iPhone ever. The Pro and Pro Max also receive an upgrade. Their aluminium unibody frames improve heat dissipation, while Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back add extra strength. Thanks to the new frame, the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is less likely to overheat.

What kind of camera does the iPhone 17 have?

Apple has significantly improved the cameras on the new iPhones and introduces the brand-new Center Stage front camera with the iPhone 17. This camera features a new square design and keeps you centred in the frame at all times, whether you’re taking photos, recording videos, or using FaceTime. It also supports dynamic framing in 4:3, 16:9, and square formats, so you no longer need to rotate your phone for group or landscape shots. Selfies are now captured in higher resolution thanks to the 18MP front camera. Only the iPhone 17e still has a 12MP True Depth camera.

The rear camera is equally impressive: every model comes with a 48MP main camera. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max add an enhanced telephoto lens, offering the longest optical zoom ever on an iPhone: up to 8x.
