The best cosy games in 2026

Julia 11 JANUARY 2026
A smiling couple sit up in bed holding game controllers, clearly enjoying a relaxed, cosy video game session together.

Playing games snuggled under a blanket on the sofa when it’s cold outside, calmly enjoying a game when it’s too hot to do anything, or unwinding after a long day at school or work: cosy games are the perfect solution. We’ve gathered the very best cosy games for you.

What are cosy games?

Child lies relaxed on bed, wearing headphones, gaming on a laptop with a controller, absorbed in a colourful adventure.

Unwind after a busy day with a cosy game: a relaxing title with a warm atmosphere and a gentle pace. This genre is becoming increasingly popular and is enjoyed by players who aren’t in the mood for an action game or shooter but instead want to step into a peaceful world. In cosy games, the aim is often to develop an area or community through gardening, fishing, mining, completing quests and building friendships with the characters around you. Cosy games are suitable for all ages and for both experienced and new gamers.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Cute character stands before a house in a bright video game, picking ground tiles from a colourful design menu.

One of the absolute classics of cosy games is, of course, Animal Crossing. In New Horizons you find yourself on an island where you have to build a community. Time passes in sync with real life and the game adapts to the changing seasons. For example, in December you can collect Christmas-themed items to brighten up your home. Craft new furniture, decorations and tools from the materials you gather, complete requests from other islanders and improve conditions on the island for yourself and your neighbours. Do you have friends who play as well? You can visit each other and exchange gifts.

Pokémon Pokopia

Cute characters explore a brick house and garden in a bright video game, with flowers, sunshine and playful charm.

For fans of Pokémon, there is a very cosy game available: Pokémon Pokopia. Here, you don’t just create a living space for yourself, but also for Pokémon. Make sure you build different areas that appeal to all kinds of Pokémon so they’ll appear there and you can unlock new skills. Bulbasaur and Squirtle, for instance, help you make grass grow and water your crops. Want Hitmonchan to join you? Then you’ll need a punchbag, so he has somewhere to train. Professor Tangrowth will support you on your adventure, which also has a mysterious edge. After all, where did that white Pikachu come from?

In Harvest Moon, your goal is to run a farm. You start by planting crops, and before long you’ll also have chickens, cows and other animals. Explore the mines, fish for your next meal and travel through the village on your new hoverbike. By completing requests, improving relationships and taking part in events, you’ll gradually unlock more content and turn Alba into an increasingly attractive village for new residents.
