How do you determine the dimensions for your built-in oven or microwave?

Line drawing of an oven and cabinet with dimensions. The oven is 45 cm, and the cabinet has shelves at 55 and 55.6 cm.
  • Step 1 - Measure the width: measure from one side of the niche to the other and write it down.
  • Step 2 - Measure the height: measure from the bottom to the top of the niche and write it down.
  • Step 3 - Measure the depth: measure from the front edge to the back wall and write it down.
  • Step 4 - Check the level: use a spirit level to check that the bottom of the niche is level.
  • Step 5 - Double check: measure everything again to be sure that your new built-in oven will fit.
