The Zeiss 43mm UV filter absorbs invisible ultraviolet light from the air, which can cause blurriness and on which many color films react with a blue cast. UV filters are ideal for photography at high altitudes, by the sea, and in areas with very clean air. Photos gain brilliance and disturbing blue cast is avoided. Apart from the disappearance of the blue cast, nothing else changes in the photos. Color reproduction remains the same and an extended exposure time is not necessary. The UV filter is therefore also very suitable for permanent mounting on the lens. You screw this onto the front lens as protection against sand, seawater, dust, and the like. In most cases, you would rather replace the filter than an often much more expensive lens.
