What does this product do?
The Gigabit desktop switch with 8 ports and PoE on 4 of them enables seamless network connectivity. It features 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet capacity.

How does this product work?
Four of the switch's eight Auto-Negotiation RJ45 connections (sockets 1 through 4) support the Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature. These PoE connections can automatically detect IEEE 802.3af compliant Powered Devices (PDs) and supply power to them. In this situation, power is supplied along with data transmission through a single cable, allowing you to extend your network to places where there is no power supply and you want to install devices such as APs, IP cameras, or IP phones.

Overload Protection
The TL-SG1008P has a priority function, which protects the system from overload. If the power consumption of all PoE PDs is >= 53 W, a priority is assigned to the PoE connections, and the system shuts off power to the connection with the lowest priority.

Priority function for connections
Priority (aansl.1>aansl.2>aansl.3>aansl.4): This function helps protect the system if the power supply is overloaded. For example, if connection 1, 2 and 4 each use 15.4 W (max power supply per connection is 15.4 W), the power supply to the system is 46.2 W total (PoE max light is red). If another PD with 10 W is then connected to connection 3, the system shuts down connection 4 to protect the system. This means connection 1 and 2 will each use 15.4 W and connection 3 will use 10 W. Connection 4 will then have no power supply.
