The 77mm Hoya HDX UV filter from Hoya is a UV filter of absolute top quality. Hoya itself even calls the HDX series 'Best filter performance in history'. The filter is made of specially optically hardened glass and therefore has 4x the tensile strength of traditional filters. The filter is specially made for the current digital market, where sensors are more sensitive to reflected light than in the analog era.The Hoya HDX filter is equipped with special coatings that reduce internal reflections, thus delivering a clearer, brighter, and sharper image. The multi-coating in the HDX filter consists of 8 (!) layers on each side. This ensures maximum optical performance and a light transmission of no less than 99.4%. This also ensures that the filter is water-, dirt-, and scratch-resistant, making it more pleasant to use and last longer.

Finally, the mount is made of very durable black anodized aluminum, which completely seals the filter glass, preventing moisture and light from entering unwantedly. This mount is also extra thin, so you won't experience vignetting, as is the case with many cheaper filters. This makes it extremely suitable for use with wide-angle lenses as well.
