In the autumn of 1944, Italy has turned into a chaotic country. The Allies are advancing from the south. The Germans and their allies still want to win the war, but the Italians are divided. Meanwhile, a fierce battle is raging on the infamous Gothic Line. A battered German unit has to retreat before a stronger group of Americans. But not everyone brings themselves to safety. Some volunteers choose to make the ultimate sacrifice and take as many Americans with them to their deaths as possible. This very intense, realistically filmed war thriller shows the battle through the eyes of the Nazis. They are now not only shown as fierce soldiers, but also viewed from a perspective in which human aspects prevail.
