The small and compact Sony ECM-G1 weighs only 34 grams. So you can easily take it with you and leave it on the camera. The design of the camera means the microphone is never in focus, even with a wide-angle lens. The clear sound is because the microphone reduces noise from, for example, focusing the lens. The windshield also helps with this. The microphone connects to a 3.5 mm jack or a Sony camera with an MI shoe. The camera feeds the microphone so batteries or charging is not necessary.
