Mandatory smoke detectors from July 1, 2022

From July 1, 2022, it is mandatory in the Netherlands to have a smoke detector on every living floor in your house and in enclosed spaces through which an escape route runs. The Building Decree is being amended, and thus it becomes a legal obligation to comply with this. This applies to both owner-occupied and rental properties, and both existing and new construction.

Easy installation

This smoke detector - with a diameter of 7.6 cm - comes with a base plate, a 3M sticker, and screws and plugs for easy and quick mounting. It is best to screw it to the ceiling. You can also stick it on with the included 3M sticker. The smoke detector is also suitable for magnetic mounting, for example with the Alecto MK-2 (not included). Due to its flat size and sleek design, it is hardly noticeable. Unless it goes off, of course.

If the alarm goes off unnecessarily, for example during cooking or grilling, use the hush or pause button. With one press of the button, the sensitivity of the sensor is temporarily reduced, effectively pausing the alarm temporarily.

Extensively tested

The Alecto SA50 smoke detector has been extensively tested and meets the strict requirements of EN14604:2005/AC:2008. This is the international test standard for smoke detectors. Of course, it is advisable to test your smoke detector yourself from time to time. For this purpose, it is equipped with a test and reset button. One press and this small smoke detector will show you what it is capable of.
