When it comes to the name of the devices in the new Galaxy S series, Samsung reportedly didn’t hesitate for long, according to Tweakers and others: Samsung Galaxy S26. According to the same outlet, this new series – like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series – consists of 3 models:

  • Samsung Galaxy S26: the entry-level model in the range.
  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus: the larger version.
  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: the flagship of the new Galaxy S series.

Samsung Galaxy S26 release: when will the new series be launched?

According to sources from Androidplanet, the new Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be released on Wednesday 25 February 2026. If those rumours are true, Samsung is launching later this year than with previous Galaxy S series models, which were consistently released at the end of January each calendar year.

What will the screen sizes of the new Galaxy S26 smartphones be?

According to Androidplanet, the dimensions of the new Galaxy S series will change very little. Only the Samsung Galaxy S26 is said to feature a 6.3‑inch display, which would be slightly larger than the 6.2‑inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy S25. Rumour has it that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus will have a 6.7‑inch screen, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra a 6.9‑inch screen. These dimensions are familiar from the predecessors of both smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S26 camera: which upgrades are expected?

For the Samsung Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus, you shouldn’t expect many changes to the camera set-up. According to Androidplanet, both models will feature a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. This set-up was also used on the predecessors of the S26 and S26 Plus. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to change, according to Bright. They report that the camera lens on this model will get a thinner protective coating. This not only makes the device thinner, but also lets in more light for nicer, sharper photos, especially in the dark.

Samsung Galaxy S26 processor: Exynos or Snapdragon?

All models in the new Samsung Galaxy S series will be faster than their predecessors – at least, if Androidplanet is to be believed. They claim the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus will run on the Exynos 2600 chip. This chip is designed by Samsung itself and is said to be one of the most powerful processors on the market. That would be ideal if, for example, you like gaming on your phone. Only the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip may have even more power and, according to Androidplanet, that is exactly what will be used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

According to Tweakers, all new smartphones will have the services of AI provider Perplexity integrated. With this AI service, users should be able to use their smartphone faster, more easily and more efficiently. It should also make it easier to work with other devices. According to Androidplanet, other AI services such as Gemini and Bixby will also remain available on the new Samsung Galaxy S smartphones.

There are rumours that Samsung will launch new Galaxy Buds in early 2026: the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. These earbuds may be released alongside the Galaxy S26 series, according to Androidplanet. Based on their sources, the charging case will get a handy find button that helps you locate your phone. Press the button and your smartphone will play a sound. The charging case is also said to include an extra speaker, making it easier to find the earbuds. Another innovation is the option to control the earbuds using head gestures: you can accept or decline calls by nodding or shaking your head.
