MediaMarkt Trade-in Service

The trade-in service is subject to terms and conditions, which you can read and must accept in advance. Some important – but not all – points are:

• You are at least 18 years old.
• You are the owner of the device.
• Before handing in or sending your device, you remove all passwords that restrict access to your device (such as device code, Face ID, Touch ID).

In-store, you hand in your device at the Smartbar; within a few minutes we assess your device and you immediately receive a MediaMarkt gift card, which you can spend in all our stores and online. You don’t need the original box or charger, and you leave the store straight away with your gift card, often with a more attractive trade-in value than online. To trade in via the website, go to the trade-in page and follow the on-screen steps.

You can trade in the following devices in-store and online:

• Smartphones
• Laptops and Mac desktops (Windows laptops, MacBooks, Chromebooks, iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro)
• Tablets
• Smartwatches
• Apple AirPods and AirPods Max
• Samsung Buds
• Games consoles

The trade-in value is a current market value: the older the model, the lower the amount you receive. In addition, the condition of your device plays a major role: it must switch on and the main functions (such as charging, touchscreen, menu, display) must work properly so that we can offer a fair price.

Follow the steps below to switch off ‘Google Smart Lock’:

• On your Android device, go to ‘Settings’.
• Select ‘Lock screen and security’.
• Scroll down and tap ‘Other security settings’.
• Go to ‘Advanced’, select ‘Trust agents’ and switch off ‘Smart Lock’.

If your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 17.3 or later, switch off device lock at home first so you can be helped quickly in-store. Via a web browser, follow these steps:

• Go to iCloud.com.
• Navigate to ‘Find My’.
• Click on the device you want to trade in.
• Click ‘Remove this device’.
• In the pop-up message ‘Unable to remove device. Prepare for repair or trade-in?’ select ‘Continue’.
• Done! The iCloud lock is now disabled.

Follow these steps on your iPhone:

• Go to ‘Settings’.
• Tap your name.
• Select ‘Find My’.
• Select ‘Find My iPhone’ and switch this feature off.

You usually find this information in the ‘Settings’ app on your smartphone, under ‘General’ or ‘About phone/device information’. There you will see the model and often also the serial number or IMEI number.
