It is designed, developed and manufactured with the optimum material to achieve the hardness and strength required to withstand the high pressure during electric pressure cooking. Instant Pot® sealing rings are tested and approved by UL, FDA and LFGB for safety, including food safety. To ensure your Instant Pot® multicooker continues to perform as intended, use only genuine Instant Pot® sealing rings with your Instant Pot® multicooker. It is recommended to replace your Instant Pot® sealing ring every 12–18 months. Because the sealing ring is porous and can absorb odors and discolor, you may want to replace it every 6–12 months to prevent discoloration and odors.
