Smart Thermostat Compatibility

• tado° is compatible with almost all boilers that support on/off connections.
• tado° supports OpenTherm, as well as other modulating boiler controls such as Nefit EMS and Vaillant eBUS. tado° is compatible with the modulating control of virtually all common central heating boilers.
• tado° is also compatible with many heat pump models. For heat pumps that can also cool, tado° usually does not support that cooling.
• tado° is almost always suitable for district heating and block heating (both via OpenTherm and on/off).
• tado° is almost always suitable for water-based underfloor heating. tado° is not suitable for electric underfloor heating.
• If you are not currently using a wall thermostat for your district or block heating with radiators, the tado° Smart Radiator Knob Starter Kit and optional individual Smart Radiator Knobs will suffice.

We advise you to check the tado° "Compatibility Guide for the Smart Thermostat V3+" before purchasing to ensure this thermostat fits your heating system. The Compatibility Guide can be found at the bottom of the product specifications under Documents (manual).

Smart Radiator Knob
The Smart Radiator Knob controls your radiators based on your location: it heats your rooms on time as you head home and saves on heating costs when you are not at home.

If you already have a Smart Radiator Knob Starter Kit or a Smart Thermostat Starter Kit (V3/V3+) with an Internet Bridge, you can add as many Smart Radiator Knobs as you wish to it - depending on how many heating zones you want to control separately.

Smart Radiator Knob Compatibility

Please note! tado° Smart Radiator Knobs only work with thermostatic radiator valves. tado° replaces your existing thermostat knob. Most thermostatic radiator valves (compatible) have numbers, displays, or other control knobs. tado° is not compatible with manual valves. Manual valves usually have no numbers or knobs. There may be plus and minus (or on and off) symbols on a manual valve indicating the direction of rotation.

If you have thermostatic valves, consult the tado° "Compatibility Guide for Smart Radiator Knobs" for a list of the most common brands compatible with tado° Smart Radiator Knobs. The tado° Smart Radiator Knob does not work with all brands of radiator valves. Therefore, check which brand of thermostat knob you currently have in advance.

• The tado° Smart Radiator Knob is suitable for valves from Caleffi, Comap, Danfoss, Giacomini, Herz, Olymp, Siemens, and Terrier.
• The tado° Smart Radiator Knob is only suitable for Vaillant, Oventrop, Ista, and Orkli radiator valves via an adapter. An adapter for these brands is not supplied by tado°.
