Excellent close-ups
Advanced Aspherical (AA) elements help achieve a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters (wide-angle) to 0.25 meters (telephoto) when using AF and 0.25 meters within the entire zoom range when manually focusing. Maximum magnification of 0.39x for detailed close-ups. Short focusing makes it easy to find the perfect angle despite small objects in the frame.

Constant maximum aperture of F4
A constant maximum aperture of F4 gives you more flexibility in choosing the aperture at any focal length. The chosen aperture remains constant within the entire zoom range. You don't need to use extreme ISO settings for telephoto photography, and you can use a short shutter speed if desired to achieve a specific effect.

The advanced technology reduces changes in angle of view, focus breathing, and axial shift during zooming. Much less noise and vibration during filming thanks to XD linear motors and a new aperture unit. The angle of view compensation function in compatible α-series bodies is also supported.

Active Mode supports ultra-wide images
