Optical Image Stabilizer

The EF-S 55-250MM F/4-5.6 IS STM incorporates Canon's Image Stabilizer technology for perfect sharpness. This allows shutter speeds up to 3.5 stops longer than normal without the effects of unintentional camera movements – great in low light or when shooting with high zoom. Panning detection automatically switches off stabilization in the horizontal or vertical direction, adding an extra sense of speed when photographing moving subjects.

STM technology

The EF-S 55-250MM F/4-5.6 IS STM uses stepping motor technology (STM) for smooth, quiet, continuous focusing when shooting videos with your EOS and fast, accurate AF when taking photos. Focusing with STM is so quiet that the sound is not picked up by the camera's microphone, so your video soundtracks do not contain unwanted elements.

The EF-S 55-250MM F/4-5.6 IS STM uses a glass UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens element and Super Spectra lens coatings for sharp, clear images with high contrast across the entire zoom range. Designed for great photography

The manual focus ring allows you to quickly and easily adjust focus at any time, and with a minimum focusing distance of 0.85 m, you can also photograph small subjects. A non-rotating front element makes using filters quick and easy.
